Nepean blows out Kanata, 4-1

The Nepean Raiders were firing on all cylinders against the Kanata Lasers, and when the final buzzer sounded Raiders emerged with a 4-1 win.

Nepean was led by Mike Finger, who had one goal. Finger scored 9:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Nepean. William Cullen picked up the assist.

The Raiders forced Kanata goalie Jordan Vachon to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Nepean also got points from Cullen, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Nepean included Kari Belec and Nicholas Domitrovic, who each put in one. In addition, Nepean received assists from PJ Heger, who had two and Justin Schebel, Corey Tam, Josh Zizek, Justin Hess, and Rory Garlasco, who contributed one each.

The Lasers were led by Yannick Martel, who scored the team's only goal. Martel scored on the power play 17:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Nepean. Kanata had gotten the advantage when Nepean's Cullen was sent off for roughing. Cole Lussier assisted on the tally.

The Raiders' Nicholas Macina stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Nepean incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Vachon rejected 33 shots on goal for the Lasers. Kanata incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
