Pembroke vanquishes Ottawa in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Lumber Kings defeated the Ottawa Senators in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 12 turns to complete the shootout. Ottawa's shootout goal was scored by Jody Sullivan. In addition to the clincher, Pembroke got a shootout goal from Nicolas Vlahos.

The Lumber Kings were led by goalie Gabe Mollot-Hill, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Mollot-Hill managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.38 prior to the game.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Lumber Kings were led by Tyler ONeill, who registered one goal. ONeill scored on the power play 3:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Pembroke earned a power play opportunity when Cameron White was put in the box for tripping. Patrick Kyte assisted on the tally. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Alex Gilmour, who had one.

The Senators could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Ottawa puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Lumber Kings were unable to stop the Senators from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Senators were led by Jaren Burke, who scored the team's only goal. Burke scored 5:16 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Sarracco picked up the assist.

Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Marcus Paulino made 20 saves for Ottawa on 21 shots. The Senators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
