Hawkesbury survives Gloucester comeback, wins 7-6Earl Armstrong Arena Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Gloucester Rangers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Hawkesbury Hawks held on for a 7-6 victory. A goal by Chris Smith put Hawkesbury up 7-4 in the third period, but Gloucester pulled to within one on Salim Mahi-Beaudry's tally 19:43 into the third period. Smith was all over the ice for the Hawks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 9:43 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Hawkesbury. Charles Levesque assisted on the tally. Smith's next tally made the score 7-4 Hawkesbury with 8:33 left in the third period. Hawkesbury earned a power play opportunity when Liam Hunter was put in the box for holding. Brett Everson picked up the assist. The Hawks forced Rangers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Cedric Hansen made 19 stops and Georgis Rentopoulos made 24. Hawkesbury found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Hawks average 3.8 goals per contest. Cole Skinner took the win and made nine saves before being replaced by Andrew Tucci who made five saves. Hawkesbury incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gloucester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
