Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kanata Lasers defeated the Cumberland Grads in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Kanata saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Lasers made the score 2-0 on a goal by Mike McArthur at 9:52 in the third period. Cumberland evened things up at 2-2 on a goal by Mathieu Dubois at 17:17 in the third period. David Pearce also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Yannick Martel, Sam Tremblay, and Declan Hilton, who contributed one each. The Grads did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Cumberland averages 4.2 goals per game. The Grads' offense rang up 42 shots on Kanata's net. Cumberland was helped by Ted McCabe, who registered one goal. McCabe scored 13:17 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kanata. Benoit Villeneuve assisted on the tally. More assists for Cumberland came via Marc-Olivier Bouchard, Shawn Cameron, and Jared Leslie, who each chipped in one. Alex Butler recorded 40 saves for the Lasers. Kanata incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Grads' Ryan Coughlin stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Cumberland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
