Nepean rides Marotte to victory over Smiths Falls, 3-1Centre Communautaire Shawville Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Francis Marotte stood on his head and made 35 saves to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 3-1 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears. Nepean was sparked by Raphael Lecours, who registered one goal. Lecours scored 1:32 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Josh Zizek assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:26 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Others who scored for Nepean included Kari Belec and Justin Hess, who each put in one. Nepean totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lecours was ejected from the game. Evan DeBrouwer made 17 saves for Smiths Falls on 20 shots. The Bears totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Smiths Falls, Joey Rutkowski was ejected from the game.
