Gloucester's comeback falls short, Pembroke wins 2-0Rockland CIHA Fri, Jan 08, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Gloucester Rangers, but did just enough to escape with a 2-0 victory. Pembroke led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Lumber Kings' Brandon Zullo scored at 19:55 in the third period to put Pembroke up 3-0. The Lumber Kings stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pembroke featured an improved defense during the game. The Lumber Kings allow 2.8 goals per game. The Rangers were unable to stop Pembroke from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumber Kings eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Pembroke was led by Derek Varrin, who tallied two goals and one assist. Varrin scored the first of his two goals at 15:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Tyler ONeill provided the assist. Varrin's next tally made the score 2-0 Pembroke with 7:02 left in the second period. More assists for Pembroke came via Fraser Turner and Kris Lalonde, who contributed one each. Boyd Diclemente recorded 18 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gloucester's Cedric Hansen stopped 42 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Rangers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
