Ottawa rips Nepean, 4-1

The Ottawa Senators had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Nepean was stymied by Ottawa's netminder Ian Andriano, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Andriano certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.49 entering the contest.

The Senators were led by Jody Sullivan, who racked up one goal and one assist. Sullivan scored 9:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Luke McCaw provided the assist.

Ottawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Nepean power plays. The Senators forced the Raiders goalie Francis Marotte to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Ottawa additionally got points from Greg Meireles, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ottawa included Brett Van Stralen and Jaren Burke, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Jared Leslie, Mitchell Gibson, and Elie Boulerice, who each chipped in one.

Nepean managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Raiders ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game.

Nepean was led by Peter Sigouin, who scored the team's only goal. Sigouin scored 4:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. PJ Heger picked up the assist.

Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Marotte rejected 28 shots on goal for the Raiders.
