Hawkesbury rips Carleton Place, 5-2

The Hawkesbury Hawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Carleton Place Canadians.

Charles Levesque was all over the ice for Hawkesbury, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Levesque scored at 2:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury and again while 1:41 into the second to make the score 3-0 Hawkesbury.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Carleton Place power plays.

Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Johnathan Kovacevic, Brandon Barillaro, and Simon Houle, who scored one goal each. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Damien Charette and Adam Cooke, who contributed one each and Vincent Crivello, Joe Smith, and Chris Smith, who each chipped in two.

Carleton Place's offense operated below its season average. The Canadians average 4.2 goals per game.

Carleton Place was led by Vinny Post, who racked up one goal and one assist. Post scored 18:54 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Hawkesbury. Nicolas Carrier picked up the assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Connor Merkley as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Lucas Batt, who had one.

Cole Skinner made 26 saves for Hawkesbury on 28 shots. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Canadians' starting goalie, James Edwardson, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Colton Point, who stopped seven shots. Carleton Place incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
