Ottawa rolls over Gloucester, 5-0Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Sat, Dec 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ottawa Senators had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the Gloucester Rangers. Ottawa was led by Alexandre Way, who registered one goal. Way scored 2:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Hunter Gunski picked up the assist. The Senators stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ottawa was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Senators gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Ottawa forced the Rangers goalie Doug Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Ottawa also got points from Mitchell Gibson, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Ottawa also had goals scored by Jody Sullivan and Jaren Burke, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Marc-Andre Gauvreau and Isaac Anderson, who contributed one each and Sean Rappleyea and Jim Pearson, who each chipped in two. Ian Andriano recorded 23 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gloucester's Johnston stopped 40 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Rangers totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. For Gloucester, Darcy Walsh was ejected from the game.
