The Ottawa Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Gloucester Rangers on the way to a 4-2 win. A goal by Alexandre Way put Ottawa up 4-1 in the second period, but Gloucester pulled to within two on Sander Boroczky's tally 4:59 into the third period. The Senators were sparked by Elie Boulerice, who racked up one goal. Boulerice scored 35 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Marc-Andre Gauvreau picked up the assist. Ottawa's offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers' net. Ottawa additionally got points from Jared Leslie, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hunter Gunski also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Greg Meireles, who had one and Evan Lindquist, who had two. Gloucester managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Rangers finished below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Paul Vella, who had two. The Senators' Marcus Paulino stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Ottawa incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Cedric Hansen rejected 27 shots on goal for Gloucester. The Rangers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
