Pembroke outlasts Cumberland, 4-2

The Pembroke Lumber Kings gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Cumberland Grads.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mitchell Culver secured the win for Pembroke with a goal in the second period.

Culver had two goals to lead the Lumber Kings to victory.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Lumber Kings forced Cumberland goalie Ryan Coughlin to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Others who scored for Pembroke included Brett Primeau and Brandon Zullo, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pembroke came via Justin Felhaber, who had two, Chris Minns, who had three, and Cale List and Alex Gilmour, who each chipped in one.

The Grads could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Cumberland averages 4.3 goals per game. The Grads kept Pembroke's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gabe Mollot-Hill made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Cumberland was helped by Adam Dauda, who racked up one goal and one assist. Dauda scored 10:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. Branden Makara picked up the assist. Cumberland also got points from Grant Hebert, who also grabbed one goal and one assist.

The Lumber Kings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Grads' Coughlin stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
