Huge game by Tackett boosts Kemptville over Cornwall, 5-2

The Kemptville 73s' Jason Tackett had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Cornwall Colts.

Tackett scored at 6:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville and again while 6:57 into the second to make the score 2-0 Kemptville.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:45 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Kemptville's offense rang up 42 shots on Cornwall's net. The 73s struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 17 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Kemptville also got points from Owen Guy, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Dean Kiriacou as well. More assists for Kemptville came via Jack Hale and Matt Tugnutt, who each chipped in one and Kaelan OFlynn and Liam Watson, who contributed two each.

The Colts were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Cornwall surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Colts forced Kemptville goalie Peter Brooks to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Cornwall was helped by Lawson MacDougall, who racked up one goal and one assist. MacDougall scored on the power play 9:47 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kemptville. A slashing penalty on Tyson Kirkby had put the Colts on the power play. Lawson MacDonald picked up the assist. Cornwall additionally got points from Jeremy McFarlane, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Brooks rejected 34 shots on goal for the 73s. Kemptville registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For the 73s, Kirkby and Cameron Bisson were ejected from the contest. Liam Lascelle recorded 37 saves for Cornwall. Team's Eric Verville and Justin McRae were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
