Hawkesbury blows out Nepean, 4-1

The Hawkesbury Hawks had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Hawkesbury got the win on the strength of a great game by Chris Smith, who had two goals and one assist. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 7:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. Charles Levesque provided the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 4-1 Hawkesbury with 4:02 left in the third period. Ryan Jackson assisted on the tally.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Nepean to score on any of its four power plays. Hawkesbury's offense rang up 35 shots on the Raiders' net.

Hawkesbury also got points from Levesque, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Jonathan Cyr as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Joe Smith, who had two and Adriano Leone and Julien Denicourt, who contributed one each.

Nepean excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Raiders were led by William Cullen, who scored the team's only goal. Cullen scored 8:11 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Hawkesbury. Samuel Meisenheimer picked up the assist.

The Hawks' Andrew Tucci stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Hawkesbury ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Simon Houle was ejected from the game. Francis Marotte made 31 saves for Nepean on 35 shots. The Raiders ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Nepean, Derek Varrin was ejected from the game.
