Cumberland completes comeback, beats Pembroke, 5-4Navan Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Pembroke Lumber Kings, 5-4. Cumberland let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Grads took a 4-3 advantage on a power play goal by Raphael Larose at 6:47 in the third period. Cumberland went down 3-1 after Pembroke's Nicolas Vlahos put the puck home on the power play at 11:49 in the second period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Ben VanOoteghem at 14:50 in the third, the Grads got the game-winner from Michael Larose at 17:22 in the third period. Cumberland was paced by Larose, who had one goal. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:24 into the second period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Grads forced the Lumber Kings goalie Boyd Diclemente to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Cumberland's penalty kill unit could not stop Pembroke's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Cumberland also got points from Zackhary Salloum, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mathieu Dubois, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Marc-Olivier Bouchard, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Shawn Cameron and Ted McCabe, who each chipped in one and Adam Dauda and Simon Besner, who contributed two each. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 36 shots on the Grads' net. Pembroke found itself short handed often, totaling 19 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Pembroke additionally got points from Jesse Blais, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brett Primeau also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Cale List, who had two and Fraser Turner, Chris Minns, Brandon Zullo, and Brock Rumbaugh, who each chipped in one. Ryan Coughlin recorded 32 saves for Cumberland. The Grads ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. For Cumberland, Grant Hebert was ejected from the game. The Lumber Kings' Diclemente stopped 39 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Pembroke ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Beveridge was ejected from the game.
