Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) beats Thunder AAA Hockey 5-4 after comeback scare

Thunder AAA Hockey tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) made the score 4-0 on a goal by Zachary Kiser at 14:04 in the second period, and Thunder AAA Hockey got as close as 5-4 when JAKE FRIEDMAN scored 16:46 into the third period.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) stifled Thunder AAA Hockey's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) was helped by Nicholas Schultze, who finished with one goal. Schultze scored 2:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM). Kevin OLeary assisted on the tally. Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) additionally got points from Kyle Mayhew, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) also had goals scored by Jack Sitzman and Brandon Bergado, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) were Matthew Poindexter and Taylor Urch, who each chipped in one.

Thunder AAA Hockey put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) to score on any of its seven power plays. Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) was unable to stop Thunder AAA Hockey from sending pucks towards the net, and Thunder AAA Hockey eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Thunder AAA Hockey also got a goal from ANDREW SINARD as well. More assists for Thunder AAA Hockey came via MATTHEW CURLEY, SETH BACON, and RYAN MASCALI, who contributed one each.

Alexander Frosh recorded 33 saves for Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM). Anaheim Jr. Ducks (MM) incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Thunder AAA Hockey's JONATHAN CHIN stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Thunder AAA Hockey incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Thunder AAA Hockey ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and ERIC HIRSCHHAUT was ejected from the game.
