Nepean wins tough contest against Smiths Falls, 4-2Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Wed, Nov 25, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Nepean Raiders escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears. Nepean gained the winning advantage on a goal by PJ Heger 12:06 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Heger had two goals to lead the Raiders to victory. Nepean's offense rang up 34 shots on Smiths Falls' net. Others who scored for Nepean included Josh Zizek and Noah Kalsner-Lowe, who each put in one. More assists for Nepean came via Hunter Garlasco, Blake Dalton, and Peter Sigouin, who contributed one each and Kari Belec and Ugo Roik, who each chipped in two. The Bears forced the Raiders goalie Francis Marotte to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Smiths Falls was helped by Cole Busschaert, who racked up one goal. Busschaert scored 9:58 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Kevin Groulx picked up the assist. Smiths Falls also got points from Nicolas Coates, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Brett Garvey and Corey Caruso, who contributed one each. Marotte rejected 34 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Evan DeBrouwer recorded 30 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
