Gloucester pulls away in second, rolls over Kanata, 6-0

The Kanata Lasers was within striking distance after one period, but the Gloucester Rangers put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-0 victory.

Doug Johnston frustrated Kanata's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. Johnston certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.43 entering the contest.

Nicholas Ngwafusi was all over the ice for Gloucester, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Ngwafusi scored on the power play 7:46 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. The Rangers had gotten the advantage when the Lasers' Nicholas Graveline was sent off for high sticking. Paul Vella picked up the assist.

Gloucester excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Rangers bested their season scoring average. This season, Gloucester averages 2.0 goals per contest.

Gloucester additionally got points from Salim Mahi-Beaudry, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Vella, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Vincent Guimond, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Gloucester also got a goal from Shane McCrank as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Sander Boroczky, Jordan Renaud, and Dan Martin, who contributed one each.

The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Alex Butler rejected 24 shots on goal for Kanata. The Lasers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
