Cornwall outlasts Nepean, 3-2

The game between the Cornwall Colts and the Nepean Raiders was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cornwall emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Lawson MacDonald's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

MacDonald had a great game for the Colts, netting two goals.

Cornwall additionally got points from Nick Lalonde, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tanner Spink, who had two and Grant Cooper, Parker Krol, and Andrew Ming, who each chipped in one.

Nepean was helped by Justin Hess, who had one goal. Hess scored 11:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Noah Kalsner-Lowe picked up the assist. Josh Zizek also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Corey Tam, Jody Sullivan, and Ugo Roik, who contributed one each.

Liam Lascelle rejected 19 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Cornwall, Dean Derouchie was ejected from the game. The Raiders' Jack Ondrovic stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Nepean totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hess was ejected from the game.
