Cumberland completes comeback, beats Gloucester, 6-5Earl Armstrong Arena Fri, Nov 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Gloucester Rangers, 6-5. Cumberland never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Grads trailed 4-1 after a goal by Gloucester's Vincent Guimond at 6:25 in the second period. Cumberland tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Grant Hebert at 6:04 in the third period. The Grads got the game winner at 14:10 in the third period on a goal by Hebert. Cumberland got the win thanks to a great game by Hebert, who had two goals and one assist. Hebert scored the first of his two goals at 8:27 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Gloucester. Branden Makara picked up the assist. Hebert's next tally made the score 5-5 with 13:56 left in the third period. Simon Besner provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:22 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Grads kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cedric Hansen made 42 saves on 48 shots. Cumberland additionally got points from DAndre John, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland included Adam Dauda, Martin Frechette, and Joey Sollazzo, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Shawn Cameron and Benoit Villeneuve, who contributed one each. Gloucester found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Rangers average 2.0 goals per contest. Gloucester was helped by Jordan Renaud, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Renaud scored 14:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Salim Mahi-Beaudry assisted on the tally. Gloucester also got points from Mahi-Beaudry, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Shane McCrank, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Gloucester also got a goal from Zachary Towns as well. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Paul Vella, who had one and Drew Shields, who had two. Cumberland's Ryan Coughlin stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Grads totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Cumberland ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron was ejected from the game. The Rangers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Gloucester, Matt Adams was ejected from the game.
