Cheff lifts Hawkesbury over Kanata, 4-0

Bruno Cheff was all over the ice for the Hawkesbury Hawks, as he tallied two goals in Hawkesbury's 4-0 win over the Kanata Lasers.

Cheff scored at 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury and again while 11:49 into the second to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kanata to score on any of its five power plays. Hawkesbury's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Lasers. The Hawks average 2.9 goals allowed per game. Hawkesbury forced Kanata goalie Alex Butler to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Julien Denicourt, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Vincent Crivello also scored for Hawkesbury. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Ryan Bunka, who had two and Mike Finger, Adriano Leone, Jonathan Cyr, Joe Smith, and Brett Everson, who each chipped in one.

The Lasers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

James Hack made 21 saves for the Hawks on 21 shots. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Butler recorded 37 saves for Kanata.
