Nepean wins tough contest against Pembroke, 3-2Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Nov 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Nepean gained the winning advantage on a goal by Luke McCaw 10:04 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. The Raiders were sparked by McCaw, who finished with one goal. Nepean excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Others who scored for Nepean included Hunter Garlasco and Justin Hess, who each put in one. In addition, Nepean received assists from Kari Belec, who had two and Jody Sullivan, Rory Garlasco, and Derek Varrin, who contributed one each. Pembroke put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their three power plays. The Lumber Kings' offense rang up 45 shots on Nepean's net. Pembroke was helped by Tyler ONeill, who registered one goal. ONeill scored 18:31 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brock Rumbaugh picked up the assist. Mitchell Culver also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Chris Minns, Jesse Blais, and Justin Felhaber, who each chipped in one. Francis Marotte recorded 43 saves for the Raiders. Nepean incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Sean Green made 20 saves for the Lumber Kings on 23 shots. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
