Cumberland rips Hawkesbury, 5-2

The Cumberland Grads had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Cumberland forced Hawkesbury goalie Andrew Tucci to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Grads were led by Branden Makara, who racked up one goal and one assist. Makara scored 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Adam Dauda picked up the assist. Cumberland also got points from Dauda, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Raphael Larose, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cumberland also had goals scored by Zackhary Salloum and Shawn Cameron, who each put in one. More assists for Cumberland came via Grant Hebert, Ted McCabe, and Martin Frechette, who contributed one each.

Cumberland was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Hawks were helped by Tom Nicholson, who had one goal. Nicholson scored 18:30 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Cumberland. Vincent Crivello provided the assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Damien Charette as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Ryan Jackson and Chris Smith, who each chipped in one.

Thierry Messervier made 34 saves for the Grads on 36 shots. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tucci recorded 31 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
