Hawkesbury outlasts Pembroke, 4-3Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Nov 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks and the Pembroke Lumber Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Hawkesbury made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jonathan Cyr's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Pembroke's power play was ineffective against the Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Hawkesbury was paced by Cyr, who tallied one goal. Cyr scored 13:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hawkesbury. Nathan Sanderson assisted on the tally. The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Hawkesbury could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. Hawkesbury additionally got points from Damien Charette, who also had one goal and one assist and Bruno Cheff, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chris Smith also scored for Hawkesbury. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Adriano Leone and Jonathan Tecce, who each chipped in one. The Lumber Kings forced the Hawks goalie Andrew Tucci to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Pembroke's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lumber Kings finished with 21 penalty minutes. Pembroke was led by Brett Horn, who finished with one goal and one assist. Horn scored 5:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hawkesbury. Brock Rumbaugh picked up the assist. Pembroke also got points from Brandon Zullo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pembroke also got a goal from Jesse Blais as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Nicolas Vlahos and Adam Beveridge, who contributed one each. Tucci recorded 30 saves for Hawkesbury. The Hawks registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Gabe Mollot-Hill made 22 saves for the Lumber Kings on 26 shots. Pembroke ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Beveridge was ejected from the game.
