Cornwall uses shootout to best Brockville, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Brockville Braves in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Lawson MacDonald had two goals to lead Cornwall to victory. MacDonald scored at 3:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and again while 8:00 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cornwall.

Cornwall also got a goal from Tristan Elie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tristan Conrad, who had two and Sebastian Dirven, Dean Derouchie, Matthew Morin, and Parker Krol, who each chipped in one.

Brockville got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Braves were helped by Ryan Markovic, who racked up one goal. Markovic scored on the power play 12:34 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Brockville earned a power play opportunity when Brennan Markell was put in the box for slashing. Ian Johnston picked up the assist. Brockville also got points from Liam Folkes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Orgel also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Thomas Dunleavy and Jack Billings, who contributed one each.

Liam Lascelle rejected 24 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Henry Johnson made 24 saves for the Braves on 27 shots. Brockville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Braves ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Orgel was ejected from the game.
