Gloucester's comeback falls short, Kemptville wins 5-3

The Kemptville 73s came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Gloucester Rangers, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Kemptville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the 73s' Alex Row scored at 3:37 in the third period to put Kemptville up 4-1.

The 73s' offense was sparked by Liam Watson, as he ended with three assists in a victory against Gloucester.

In a losing effort, the Rangers were sparked by Salim Mahi-Beaudry, who had one goal and two assists. Mahi-Beaudry scored 5:42 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kemptville. Paul Vella provided the assist.

Kemptville forced Rangers' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Doug Johnston made 25 stops and Cedric Hansen made two. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Gloucester power plays.

Kemptville additionally got points from Adam Alavi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Owen Guy, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Matt Tugnutt, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Row, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Victor Tracy, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Brandon Cole, who had two.

Gloucester managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Rangers ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

Others who scored for Gloucester included Shane McCrank and Vincent Guimond, who each put in one. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Nicholas Ngwafusi, who had one.

Nicholas Hodgins recorded 19 saves for Kemptville. The 73s incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
