Ottawa outlasts Cornwall, 4-3

The Ottawa Senators and the Cornwall Colts were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Ottawa made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Salim Mahi-Beaudry secured the win for the Senators with a goal in the third period.

Ottawa was paced by Mahi-Beaudry, who finished with one goal. Mahi-Beaudry scored 11:31 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ottawa. Kyle Hillick provided the assist.

The Senators' offense rang up 38 shots on Cornwall's net.

Ottawa also had goals scored by Samuel Meisenheimer, Mitchell Gibson, and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ottawa came via Alexandre Way, Isaac Anderson, Greg Meireles, Daniel Sarracco, Johnathan Kovacevic, Geoffrey Lawson, and Jaren Burke, who each chipped in one.

The Colts excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Cornwall kept Ottawa's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Andriano made 28 saves on 31 shots.

The Colts were helped by Nick Lalonde, who had one goal. Lalonde scored 16:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Tristan Elie picked up the assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Lawson MacDonald and Matthew Morin, who each put in one. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Sebastian Dirven, Dean Derouchie, Tanner Spink, Lawson MacDougall, and Brennan Markell, who contributed one each.

The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Liam Lascelle recorded 34 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
