Cumberland uses early goal to top Kemptville, 5-3

Grant Hebert gave the Cumberland Grads the lead in the first period, and the Kemptville 73s was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 5-3.

Hebert provided Cumberland with the game-winning tally when he scored 19:51 into the first period.

The Grads were paced by Shawn Cameron, who finished with one goal and one assist. Cameron scored 13:54 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Cumberland. Michael Larose assisted on the tally.

Cumberland stifled Kemptville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cumberland also got points from Larose, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland included Adam Dauda and DAndre John, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Martin Frechette, who had two and Matthieu Franche, Zackhary Salloum, and Ted McCabe, who each chipped in one.

The Grads were unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Kemptville eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The 73s were helped by Victor Tracy, who registered one goal. Tracy scored 15:39 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Cumberland. Cameron Russell picked up the assist. Kemptville also had goals scored by Jason Tackett and Tyler Beauparlant, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kemptville came via Jack Hale, Matthew Titus, Tyson Kirkby, Dean Kiriacou, and Jake Gaudet, who contributed one each.

Ryan Coughlin recorded 38 saves for Cumberland. The Grads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Charlie Jensen made 21 saves for Kemptville on 26 shots. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
