Cornwall vanquishes Hawkesbury in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Hawkesbury's shootout goal was scored by Chris Smith. In addition to the clincher, Cornwall got a shootout goal from Lawson MacDougall.

The Colts were sparked by Tristan Elie, who finished with one goal and one assist. Elie scored on the power play 5:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Cornwall had gained a power play chance when Adriano Leone was whistled for high sticking.

In the losing effort, the Hawks were paced by Charles Levesque, who registered one goal and two assists. Levesque scored 1:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Smith picked up the assist.

Others who scored for Cornwall included Lawson MacDonald and Nick Lalonde, who each put in one. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Tanner Spink, Matthew Morin, and MacDougall, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury forced the Colts goalie Liam Lascelle to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

Hawkesbury also got points from Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Ryan Bunka, who had one and Jonathan Cyr, who had two.

Cornwall's Lascelle stopped 45 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Colts incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Andrew Tucci made 23 saves for the Hawks on 26 shots. Hawkesbury incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
