Gloucester wins tough contest against Kanata, 4-3

The Gloucester Rangers gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Kanata Lasers.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Vincent Guimond at 13:51 of the third period.

Gloucester was led by Guimond, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

The Rangers bested their season scoring average. Gloucester has scored at the pace of 1.3 goal per game during the current campaign.

Gloucester also got points from Jordan Renaud, who also registered one goal and one assist. Gloucester also had goals scored by Sander Boroczky and Jared Leslie, who each put in one. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Shane McCrank, Alex Cohen, and Matt Adams, who each chipped in one.

Kanata excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Lasers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Kanata finished with 18 penalty minutes.

The Lasers were helped by Mike McArthur, who racked up one goal. McArthur scored 1:07 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kanata. Jacob Moreau assisted on the tally. Kanata additionally got points from Moreau, who also had one goal and one assist. Kanata also got a goal from Dean Hewines as well. More assists for Kanata came via Bryce Biller, who had two and Joey Laird, Roshen Jaswal, and Jivan Sidhu, who contributed one each.

The Rangers' Doug Johnston stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Gloucester incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alex Butler recorded 18 saves for Kanata. The Lasers registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
