Cornwall survives Nepean comeback, wins 3-2

The Cornwall Colts, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Nepean Raiders and clinched a 3-2 victory.

Cornwall led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Colts' Lawson MacDougall scored at 7:20 in the second period to put Cornwall up 3-0.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:46 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Colts stifled Nepean's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cornwall forced the Raiders goalie Francis Marotte to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Cornwall additionally got points from Matthew Morin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Nick Lalonde as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Ross Craig, Dean Derouchie, David A Poirier, and Tristan Elie, who contributed one each.

Nepean kept the Colts' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Lascelle made 31 saves on 33 shots.

The Raiders were helped by Blake Dalton, who registered one goal. Dalton scored 12:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall. Josh Zizek also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Jody Sullivan, who had one.

Cornwall totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Colts, Parker Krol was ejected from the game. Marotte recorded 37 saves for Nepean. The Raiders totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Nepean ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kari Belec was ejected from the game.
