Carleton Place holds on for 4-3 win against Hawkesbury

The Hawkesbury Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Carleton Place Canadians held on for a 4-3 victory.

Carleton Place took a 4-2 lead during the first period, only to have Hawkesbury storm back on a Joe Smith goal 17:09 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Bryce VanHorn had a great game for the Canadians, netting two goals. VanHorn's tallies came on the power play at 18:20 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and 19:41 into the first to make the score 3-2 Carleton Place.

Carleton Place did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting four shots on net to force zero saves.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Lucas Batt, who also had one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Marcus Joseph as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Owen Grant, who had two and Jordan Larson and Alex Friesen, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks were helped by Chris Smith, who grabbed one goal. Smith scored 2:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Julien Denicourt also scored for Hawkesbury. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Damien Charette, Jonathan Cyr, and Reid Murphy, who contributed one each.

The Canadians incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
