Cornwall falls to Cumberland in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Sep 20, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Shawn Cameron gave the Cumberland Grads a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Cornwall Colts when he scored 3:25 into the extra period. Cumberland almost relinquished a two-score lead. The Grads made it 3-1 on a goal by Martin Frechette at 15:22 in the second period. Cornwall got to within 3-2 on a goal by Grant Cooper at 8:45 in the third period. Branden Makara was all over the ice for Cumberland, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Makara scored 1:55 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Benoit Villeneuve assisted on the tally. The Grads stifled the Colts' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cumberland's offense rang up 41 shots on Cornwall's net. Cumberland also got points from Cameron, who also registered one goal and one assist. Joey Sollazzo also scored for Cumberland. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Zackhary Salloum, Ted McCabe, Michael Larose, and Costa Georgitsos, who contributed one each. The Colts excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Cornwall kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Coughlin made 44 saves on 47 shots. The Colts were helped by Lawson MacDougall, who finished with one goal. MacDougall scored 1:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Dean Derouchie picked up the assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Tristan Elie as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Tanner Spink and Brennan Markell, who each chipped in one. Cumberland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brett Nichol recorded 37 saves for Cornwall. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
