Cumberland beats Kemptville 5-4 after comeback scare

The Kemptville 73s tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Cumberland Grads held on for a 5-4 victory.

Cumberland made the score 4-2 on a goal by Shawn Cameron at 17:01 in the second period, and Kemptville got as close as 4-3 when Owen Guy scored 8:18 into the third period.

Cameron had one goal and three assists to lead the Grads.

Cumberland's offense rang up 34 shots on the 73s' net.

Cumberland also got points from Zackhary Salloum, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Martin Frechette, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Cumberland also had goals scored by Mathieu Dubois and Benoit Villeneuve, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cumberland came via Matthieu Franche, Grant Hebert, Ted McCabe, and Branden Makara, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville additionally got points from Matt Tugnutt, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jake Gaudet, who had two and Kaelan OFlynn, Cameron Russell, and Liam Watson, who contributed one each.

Thierry Messervier made 22 saves for the Grads on 26 shots. Cumberland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Kemptville's Nicholas Hodgins stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
