Hawkesbury rolls over Gloucester, 6-0

The Hawkesbury Hawks had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-0 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Hawkesbury pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Hawks were paced by Simon Houle, who finished with one goal. Houle scored 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Brandon Barillaro picked up the assist.

Hawkesbury stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Rangers. Hawkesbury gives up 2.4 goals on average per game. Gloucester was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Adriano Leone, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Julien Denicourt, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Charles Levesque, Jonathan Cyr, and Ryan Jackson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Vinny Crivello, Matt Kashan, Ryan Bunka, Joe Smith, Brett Everson, and Jonathan Tecce, who contributed one each.

The Rangers' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to the Hawks' power play unit. Gloucester could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

James Hack made 20 saves for Hawkesbury on 20 shots. Cedric Hansen rejected 26 shots on goal for the Rangers. Gloucester registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
