Cyr's big game bests Gloucester in 9-0 Hawkesbury win

The Hawkesbury Hawks had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-0 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Jonathan Cyr had one goal and three assists to lead Hawkesbury. Cyr scored on the power play 5:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. The Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Darcy Walsh was put in the box for too many men. Brett Everson picked up the assist.

Hawkesbury stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks' defense was surprisingly good. Hawkesbury averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Hawks' offense rang up 40 shots on the Rangers' net. Hawkesbury's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Hawks average 4.7 goals per contest.

Hawkesbury also got points from Charles Levesque, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Vinny Crivello, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Matt Kashan, who had two and Adriano Leone, Brandon Barillaro, Tom Nicholson, and Alex Anderson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Joe Smith, who had one, Liam Manning, who had two, and Julien Denicourt, who had four.

Gloucester's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Rangers finished with 16 penalty minutes.

Hawkesbury's James Hack stopped 21 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Doug Johnston made 31 saves for Gloucester on 40 shots. The Rangers registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
