Venom beat ZeBros, 2-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Venom took over the lead for good with a goal by Hansen Chong at 8:23 in the first period.

The win gave Venom a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Venom was paced by Chong, who grabbed one goal.

Kurtis McLean also scored for Venom. Other players who recorded assists for Venom were Patric Yuen and Stephen Chu, who contributed one each.

ZeBros excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

ZeBros was led by Shaady Shivji, who scored the team's only goal. Shivji scored on the power play 3:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 ZeBros. ZeBros earned a power play opportunity when Eddy Chau was put in the box for tripping. Doug Cheng picked up the assist.

Venom's Adriano Fasciglione stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Venom incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Sean Wasserman recorded 27 saves for ZeBros. ZeBros incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
