Wainman stymies Little Britain, Clarington wins 2-1

The Clarington Eagles relied on the sparkling performance of Zack Wainman in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Little Britain Merchants.

Clarington was paced by Justin Holiad, who had one goal. Holiad scored 2:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Clarington. Chris Elms assisted on the tally.

The Eagles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Little Britain power plays. Clarington was held below its usual level of production. The Eagles put an average of 5.2 pucks into the net per game. Little Britain was unable to stop Clarington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Clarington also got a goal from Collin Weston as well. More assists for Clarington came via Mackenzie Morissette, Cody Kean, and Dan Michel, who contributed one each.

The Merchants' offense operated below their season average. Little Britain averages 4.6 goals per game.

The Merchants were led by Derek Risebrough, who scored the team's only goal. Risebrough scored 5:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. Aidan Renouf picked up the assist.

Zack Wainman made 27 saves for Clarington on 28 shots. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Garrett Haden rejected 32 shots on goal for Little Britain.
