Lakefield rolls over Georgina, 5-2Georgina Ice Palace Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lakefield Chiefs were firing on all cylinders against the Georgina Ice, and when the final buzzer sounded Chiefs emerged with a 5-2 win. Lakefield got the win behind a great game by Riley Campbell, who had one goal and two assists. Campbell scored 5:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lakefield. Mitch Moher assisted on the tally. The Chiefs' penalty kill excelled, as Lakefield gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Chiefs forced Georgina goalie Emilio Gallenero to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Lakefield also got points from Josh Duggan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Eric Oosting, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Ethan Schott, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Lakefield also had goals scored by Dalton Hill and Jeff Hawthorne, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Mike Connelly and Colton Armstrong, who each chipped in one. The Ice's offense rang up 31 shots on Lakefield's net. Georgina was helped by Dustin Brillinger, who registered one goal. Brillinger scored on the power play 18:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Lakefield. The Ice had gotten the advantage when the Chiefs' Aaron Vatcher was sent off for cross checking. Blake Sepkowski APM picked up the assist. Brendan Mackenzie also scored for Georgina. In addition, Georgina received assists from Jake Martin, Cole Turner APM, and Matthew McIntyre, who contributed one each. Aaron Esposito-Mularchuk recorded 29 saves for Lakefield. The Chiefs totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Lakefield ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hill was ejected from the game. Georgina's Gallenero stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Ice ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Georgina, Ryan Baggs was ejected from the game.
