Little Britain squeaks by Uxbridge, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Little Britain Merchants escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Uxbridge Bruins.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Aidan Renouf secured the win for Little Britain with a goal in the third period.

Terry Snoddon had a great game for the Merchants, netting two goals. Snoddon's tallies came at 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Little Britain and 19:28 into the third to make the score 4-2 Little Britain.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:36 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Little Britain forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Merchants had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Little Britain kept Uxbridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Branden Francey made 46 saves on 50 shots. The Merchants had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Little Britain also got points from Renouf, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also got a goal from Derek Risebrough as well. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Jesse Craig and Jesse Beers, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game Uxbridge had been spending in the box. The Bruins forced Little Britain goalie Garrett Haden to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Uxbridge was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

The Bruins were helped by Marco Mastrangelo, who tallied one goal and one assist. Mastrangelo scored on the power play 8:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. A roughing penalty on Beers had put Uxbridge on the power play. Daryl Thomson assisted on the tally. Uxbridge additionally got points from Thomson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Alex Siblock, who had one.

The Merchants' Haden stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Little Britain ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kenzie Smith was ejected from the game. Team's Brett Thomson and Thomson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
