Michel nets hat trick, leads Clarington to 5-0 win over Uxbridge

A hat trick by Dan Michel was the highlight in Eagles' 5-0 win against the Uxbridge Bruins.

Michel's first goal came 4:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:19 into the first and at 10:31 into the first.

The Clarington Eagles were boosted by Zack Wainman, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Wainman certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.79 entering the contest.

Clarington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Eagles' defense was surprisingly good. Clarington averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Eagles kept Uxbridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Branden Francey made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Clarington also had goals scored by Justin Holiad and Jordan Neuman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Cody Kean, who had four and Dylan Howorko, Darby Medd, Patrick McAuliffe, and Collin Weston, who contributed one each.

The Bruins were held below their usual level of production. Uxbridge puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

Clarington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bruins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
