A stellar performance between the pipes by Mark Robb helped the Clarington Eagles defeat the Lakefield Chiefs, 4-1. Clarington was led by Justin Holiad, who registered one goal. Holiad scored 4:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Clarington. Mackenzie Morissette provided the assist. The Eagles stifled Lakefield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Clarington forced the Chiefs goalie Michael Christie to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Clarington also had goals scored by Jordan Neuman, Braden Gray, and Mark Gavrilov, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Kevin Smith, who had two and Mitchell Marchbank and Chris Elms, who each chipped in one. Lakefield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Chiefs could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Lakefield puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Robb recorded 28 saves for the Eagles. Clarington incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Eagles, Marchbank and Collin Weston were ejected from the contest. Michael Christie made 39 saves for the Chiefs on 43 shots. Lakefield incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
