Early goals doom Georgina, falls to Uxbridge, 10-1

The Uxbridge Bruins opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 10-1 win over the Georgina Ice.

Marco Mastrangelo had one goal and five assists to lead Uxbridge. Mastrangelo scored 15:35 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Uxbridge. Alex Siblock provided the assist.

Georgina's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the Ice let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:54 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Bruins forced Georgina's goalies to work without much rest, launching 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Emilio Gallenero made six stops and Grant Campbell made 20. Uxbridge stifled the Ice's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Uxbridge averages 3.7 goals per game. The Bruins were often in penalty trouble, as it ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Uxbridge's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Uxbridge also got points from Jordan Nesbitt, who also had one goal and two assists and Siblock, who also racked up two goals and three assists. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Aiden Reilly and Liam Timewell, who scored two goals each and Nicholas Sribny and Thomas Sheedy, who each put in one. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Thomas Swift, Coby Gardner, Marshall Lockhart, Patrick Bolahood, and Brady Baker, who contributed one each.

Georgina was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Ice had been spending in the box.

Branden Francey made 19 saves for the Bruins on 20 shots. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gardner was ejected from the game. Georgina registered zero goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Ice, Austin Oosterhuis and Tanner Tomlinson were ejected from the contest.
