Medland's big game bests Georgina in 6-3 North Kawartha win

Behind a great game by Cameron Medland, who had two goals and one assist, the North Kawartha Knights defeated the Georgina Ice, 6-3.

Medland scored at 8:31 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 18:18 into the third to make the score 6-3 North Kawartha.

North Kawartha pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

The Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Georgina to score on any of its six power plays. North Kawartha forced the Ice goalie Grant Campbell to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Knights' goal total was higher than their season average. North Kawartha averages 3.3 goals per game.

North Kawartha additionally got points from Russell Fontyn, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Kawartha included Daniel Taylor, Matt Douglas, and Christian Lachapelle, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Shawnessy Borden, Ethan Coens, Connor Gourlie, Justin Thain, Jesse Douglas, and Nick Mann, who each chipped in one and Zack Pearson and Braden MacDonald, who contributed two each.

Georgina excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

The Ice were helped by Geoff Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored 53 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. Jesse King-Norris APM assisted on the tally. Georgina also got points from King-Norris APM, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Georgina also got a goal from Bradley Boudreau as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgina were Cameron Cattell, who had two.

Spencer Green rejected 21 shots on goal for the Knights. Grant Campbell made 36 saves for Georgina on 42 shots. The Ice incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
