Clarington holds on for 6-4 win against North Kawartha

The Clarington Eagles survived a determined comeback attempt by the North Kawartha Knights on the way to a 6-4 win.

A goal by Darby Medd put Clarington up 6-2 in the third period, but North Kawartha pulled to within two on Ed Whitmore's tally 18:43 into the third period.

The Eagles was paced on offense by Brodie Myers and Cody Kean, who combined for five points. Myers racked up two goals and Kean also added two goals and one assist.

Clarington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Knights were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Clarington eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Clarington additionally got points from Kean, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Clarington received assists from William Lamoureux, who had two and Mark Robb, Brent Hambly, Justin Holiad, Kevin Smith, Dan Michel, Jordan Neuman, and Collin Weston, who each chipped in one.

North Kawartha forced the Eagles goalie Robb to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Knights were led by Connor Gourlie, who finished with three goals. More assists for North Kawartha came via Jesse Douglas, who had two and Cameron Medland, who had three.

Robb recorded 32 saves for Clarington. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Clarington, Holiad was ejected from the game. North Kawartha's Jake Ireland stopped 29 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Knights incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
