Uxbridge blows out Georgina, 7-2

The Uxbridge Bruins had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Georgina Ice.

Marco Mastrangelo was a peerless playmaker for Uxbridge, as he dished out six to beat Georgina,.

The Ice's 10 penalties came back to haunt them, as Georgina let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:39 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Bruins were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Uxbridge surpassed its season average of 31.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bruins forced the Ice goalie Emilio Gallenero to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Uxbridge found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bruins average 3.8 goals per game.

Uxbridge additionally got points from Daryl Thomson, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Alex Siblock, who had two and Aiden Reilly, Wes Cowie, and Brady Baker, who scored one goal each. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Thomas Swift, who had two and Jackson Evans APM and Patrick Bolahood, who contributed one each.

Georgina's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Ice had been spending in the box.

Georgina was helped by Geoff Walker, who finished with one goal. Walker scored on the power play 17:58 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge. A holding penalty on Liam Timewell had put the Ice on the power play. Jesse King-Norris APM picked up the assist. Cole Turner also scored for Georgina. Other players who recorded assists for Georgina were Bradley Boudreau and Cameron Cattell, who each chipped in one.

Uxbridge's Jake Joosten stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. For the Bruins, Jordan Nesbitt and Cowie were ejected from the contest. Emilio Gallenero made 42 saves for Georgina on 49 shots. The Ice registered two goals on 11 power play opportunities. Team's Brendan Mackenzie, Ryan Baggs, and Tanner Tomlinson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
