Hawthorne's hat trick boosts Lakefield over Georgina, 6-3Georgina Ice Palace Fri, Dec 04, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Jeff Hawthorne was the highlight in Chiefs' 6-3 win against the Georgina Ice. Hawthorne's first goal came 17:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:01 into the third and at 16:34 into the third.Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:29 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Georgina was unable to stop the Lakefield Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Lakefield additionally got points from Connor Ellis, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Lakefield also had goals scored by Colton Armstrong and Aaron Vatcher, who each put in one. More assists for Lakefield came via Dalton Hill, who had two, Jayd Killingbeck, who had three, and Keenan Runnalls and Eric Oosting, who contributed one each. The Ice excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Georgina was helped by Chris Mitchell APM, who tallied one goal. Mitchell APM scored 2:23 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Lakefield. Matthew McIntyre assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Georgina included Bradley Boudreau and Jonathon Kaye, who scored one goal each. In addition, Georgina received assists from Brendan Mackenzie, who had two. The Chiefs' Michael Christie stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Lakefield ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Chiefs, Armstrong was ejected from the game. Grant Campbell made 34 saves for the Ice on 40 shots. Georgina totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Ice ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Bingham was ejected from the game.
