Mastrangelo leads Uxbridge over North Kawartha, 7-2

Marco Mastrangelo was all over the ice for the Uxbridge Bruins, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Uxbridge's 7-2 win over the North Kawartha Knights.

Mastrangelo scored 52 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Uxbridge. Daryl Thomson provided the assist. Mastrangelo dished an assist on Thomson's goal that made the score 2-0 Uxbridge at 14:34 into the first period. He then added assists on Jordan Nesbitt's goal at 41 seconds into the third and on Thomson's goal at 5:44 into the third.

The Bruins pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Uxbridge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven North Kawartha power plays. The Bruins' offense rang up 55 shots on North Kawartha's net. Uxbridge's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bruins average 3.7 goals per contest.

Uxbridge also got points from Nesbitt, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Coby Gardner, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Thomson, who also had two goals and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Alex Siblock and Patrick Bolahood, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Adam Bartholomew, Shane Smith, Aiden Reilly, Nicholas Sribny, and Thomas Sheedy, who contributed one each.

The Knights were helped by Jesse Douglas, who finished with one goal. Douglas scored short handed 44 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. Cameron Medland picked up the assist. North Kawartha also got a goal from Shawnessy Borden as well. More assists for North Kawartha came via Shane Patterson, Shawn Brown, and Christian Lachapelle, who each chipped in one.

Branden Francey made 18 saves for Uxbridge on 20 shots. The Bruins registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Uxbridge, Bartholomew was ejected from the game. Jake Ireland recorded 48 saves for North Kawartha. The Knights incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
