Michel nets hat trick, leads Clarington to 14-2 win over Georgina

The Georgina Ice could not stop the Clarington Eagles' Dan Michel, who tallied a hat trick in a 14-2 win.

Michel notched his first tally 2:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:19 into the first and at 12:44 into the first.

Georgina was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Clarington was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Eagles were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Clarington had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Eagles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Georgina power plays. Clarington's offense rang up 51 shots on the Ice's net. The Eagles surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Clarington averages 5.7 goals per game. The defensemen of the Eagles were also effective in Georgina's zone, and came away with two goals.

Clarington also got points from Cody Kean, who also grabbed three goals and four assists to lead the team in points, Darby Medd, who also registered two goals and two assists, Collin Weston, who also tallied two goals and two assists, and Brodie Myers, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Clarington also got a goal from William Lamoureux as well. More assists for Clarington came via Mitchell Marchbank, Chris Elms, and Jordan Neuman, who contributed one each and Mackenzie Morissette, Kevin Smith, and Mark Gavrilov, who each chipped in two.

The Ice forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Georgina surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Ice were led by Bradley Boudreau, who had two goals. Boudreau scored the first of his two goals at 23 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. Matthew McIntyre picked up the assist. Boudreau's next tally made the score 4-2 Clarington with 19:01 left in the second period. Cole Turner assisted on the tally. In addition, Georgina received assists from Ryan Baggs, who had one.

Mark Robb made 25 saves for Clarington on 27 shots. Team's Justin Holiad and Braden Gray were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Georgina's Emilio Gallenero stopped 37 shots out of the 51 that he faced. For the Ice, Adrian Addante and Bronson Smith were ejected from the contest.
