Clarington rips Port Perry, 5-1Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Clarington Eagles had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Port Perry Mojacks. Clarington's Zack Wainman was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Wainman certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.97 entering the contest. The Eagles pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 10 penalty minutes. Port Perry was unable to stop Clarington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Clarington was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. The Eagles' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Clarington was helped by William Lamoureux, who had one goal and one assist. Lamoureux scored on the power play 5:55 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. The Eagles had gotten the advantage when the Mojacks' Matt Trudel was sent off for hooking. Cody Kean provided the assist. Clarington also had goals scored by Dan Michel, who had two and Dylan Howorko and Collin Weston, who scored one goal each. In addition, Clarington received assists from Mackenzie Morissette, who had two and Mitchell Marchbank and Justin Holiad, who each chipped in one. Port Perry did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Mojacks average 4.0 goals per game. Port Perry forced Clarington goalie Wainman to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Mojacks were led by Konrad Piorkowski, who scored the team's only goal. Piorkowski scored on the power play 3:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Perry. Port Perry had taken the advantage when the Eagles' Ben Pitchforth got sent off for interference. Kyle Schweda assisted on the tally. Blake Shaw rejected 35 shots on goal for the Mojacks. Port Perry incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
