Little Britain erases deficit to stun North Kawartha, 7-6

The Little Britain Merchants climbed out of a four-goal hole to beat the North Kawartha Knights, 7-6.

Little Britain never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Merchants was down 4-0 after a goal by North Kawartha's Cameron Medland at 7:45 in the first period. Little Britain tied things up at 6-6 on a goal by Jordan Sharpe at 16:16 in the second period. The Merchants scored the game winner at 17:21 in the third period on a goal by Sharpe.

Owen Fawns was all over the ice for Little Britain, as he registered two goals in the win. Fawns found the back of the net 9:48 into the second period to make the score 4-3 North Kawartha and again while 10:20 into the second to make the score 4-4.

The Merchants' offense rang up 45 shots on the Knights' net. Little Britain found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Merchants average 4.1 goals per contest.

Others who scored for Little Britain included Hayden Long, Aidan Renouf, Kenzie Smith, and Keegan Cairns, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Nathan Watson, Derek Risebrough, and Mark Harris, who contributed one each and Terry Snoddon and Reed Westington, who each chipped in two.

North Kawartha forced Little Britain goalie Adam Harris to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Knights bested their season scoring average. North Kawartha averages 3.1 goals per game.

North Kawartha additionally got points from Russell Fontyn, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Jesse Douglas, who also finished with one goal and one assist. North Kawartha also had goals scored by Daniel Taylor and Shawn Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Zack Pearson and Justin Thain, who contributed one each.

Harris rejected 26 shots on goal for the Merchants. Little Britain incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Knights' Spencer Green stopped 38 shots out of the 45 that he faced. North Kawartha incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
